In this Logitech G512 Carbon review, the author feels that this keyboard has an elegant design and also has a very clicky sound switch.
The author happened to be loaned the G512 Carbon keyboard with the GX Blue Clicky switch. Other switch variants of this keyboard include Romer-G Tactile and Romer-G Linear. But this review will describe the GX Blue switch.
This keyboard has a full size design. To be honest, personally the author is not comfortable using a full size keyboard for gaming use. However, take it easy because this keyboard has adequate features and performance for gaming.
Then what are the pros and cons of this G512 Carbon product? Does the price match the features offered? Check out the following Logitech G512 Carbon review.
Minimalist Keyboard Made of Aluminum Alloy

The Logitech G512 is a full size keyboard measuring 13cm x 45cm x 3cm and weighing about 1kg. The build quality for the keyboard case itself has a good finish and is made of aluminum alloy so it feels sturdy and thick. This makes the G512 seem premium.
The cable from the keyboard is about 1m long and the cable is braided which also feels very thick and sturdy.

The legs on this keyboard have a location that is not too far at the end and slightly protrudes towards the middle. Pulling his leg was not from the front, but from the side. I personally like the way Logitech places the keyboard legs because it’s easier to use.
The author also prefers to use the keyboard legs because the height adjusts to the author’s style when typing or playing games. If you don’t use the keyboard, it’s a bit uncomfortable with the keyboard position being too low.
Gaming Keyboard With Additional USB Passthrough

This keyboard has a USB passthrough located next to the power cable. So it’s like there is an additional USB port that I personally sometimes use to plug in the mousepad cable, or for charging cellphones.
So if you are lazy to plug the USB into the PC case, to be more efficient, you can plug the cable itself into the USB Passthrough earlier. What’s more, if you use a wireless mouse, all you have to do is plug the wireless mouse receiver into the USB Passthrough earlier.
It’s just a minus, the power cable and USB passthrough cable must be both plugged in. So in your PC case you will still use 2 USB ports. Because it’s the intent and purpose of Logitech to provide USB passthrough, just to provide convenience.
The keys on this keyboard have a smooth texture and are made of plastic that looks premium. The RGB color that penetrates the jet black button also looks very tempting.

Then for the function key, the multimedia icon on the function key is not located above the button, but is located on the back side.
The FN + F8 combination functions to activate the game mode, while FN + F5/F6/F7 to change the RGB mode and FN + F9 – F12 functions as the multimedia keys.
The rest, we can adjust the function keys via Logitech software if you want to customize it according to your individual preferences.
Gaming Keyboard with Extremely Crispy Switch

Regarding the experience when using it, the author has used the G512 to play FPS games such as Apex Legends and MOBAs such as Dota 2.
Because the keyboard that I use as a daily driver is a Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition which is a TKL keyboard, so I need to get used to using a full size keyboard while playing games.
At first, I was not comfortable with a full size keyboard for gaming. Because when playing games, the author likes to tilt the keyboard so that the author’s left hand can be more comfortable. However, because of its full size, tilting the G512 is a bit uncomfortable for space on the table.
Keep in mind again, this is only a question of convenience because of the full-size layout. But for gaming, I have no problem with the performance and features offered by the G512.

For the typing experience, this keyboard gives a feel that I personally like because of its clicky switches and light keys. The distance between the buttons is also quite tenuous, so it can minimize typos or typos.
The switch on this keyboard uses the GX Blue Switch which has a feedback type and the profile is very Clicky. The sound from the switch is very clicky and crispy. Suitable for those of you who like the clicky sound of a mechanical keyboard.
The clicky sound is similar to the Razer keyboard that I use. But from the clicky side, the G512 is still more crispy. The GX Blue Switch Clicky itself has a durability of up to 70 million clicks with an actuation distance of 1.9mm, a total travel of 4.0mm, and an average force of 50g.

Conclusion

The G512 has functional features and designs that create an elegant and minimalist impression. The build quality on this keyboard is also not kidding, the aluminum alloy case material makes it sturdy and looks premium.
There is a USB passthrough which is an added value for this keyboard which functions for efficiency of use. The GX Blue Switch is also great for typing and gaming. The distance between the keys also minimizes typing errors.
Although the full size may be an obstacle for those of you who are used to using a non-full size keyboard.
If it can be concluded, the G512 is suitable for those of you who have more money and like a minimalist keyboard design with a full size layout, good build quality, and a very clicky and crispy sound profile.
Questioning the price, it’s a bit expensive for the author personally. But the price and the existing features are suitable.
